Welcome to skating lesson registration for 2023 - 2024!

Registration will open at 7am on December 1, 2024.

Select from the lessons below. Clicking on the lesson will show a description of the skills you can expect to learn in the class. The dates are from January 6 to February 24, 2023 with a make-up day of March 2 in the event that we have to cancel any of the lessons due to weather (e.g. rain, excessively warm temperatures on the ice)

Skills your skater will learn by class:

  • Snowplow Sam (for younger skaters) and Basic 1: Stand up on our own, move across the ice with a glide forwards
  • Basic 2: One foot glide, stopping and moving backwards
  • Basic 3: Backwards skating with glide, back one foot glide, turning forward to backwards
  • Basic 4: Forward crossovers, skating on and edge, long back one foot glide
  • Basic 5: Back crossovers, turning on one foot forward to backward
  • Adult: Adult skills are similar to Basic at the same numbered level.

If your young skater has no skating experience, Snowplow Sam 1 (5 or 6 y.o.) or Basic 1 (7+ y.o.) are the correct lessons, depending on age.

The Friends of the Kelly Rink is a community funded non-profit with the aim of making ice skating accessible to everyone, but especially the youth of JP and Roxbury. As such, our lessons are priced on a no-questions-asked pay-what-you-can-afford basis up to a suggested $80 donation (which includes rental skates).

If you there are no more lessons available at the time you'd like, you can still put yourself on the waitlist at that time by selecting that lesson, but we encourage you to consider other times if there is availability.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us by email at friendsofkellyrink@gmail.com or by phone at (857) 728-4890.

Registration will open at 7am on December 1, 2024.
